QIF (Quicken Interchange Format)

Also known as: .qif, Quicken Interchange Format

The legacy Quicken text-based format for exchanging accounts, categories, and transactions.

What it means

QIF is an older Quicken text format still supported by YNAB, GnuCash, Moneydance, and other personal-finance tools. It handles transactions, splits, and categories in a plain-text structure that's easy to inspect. Converting CSV or bank statements to QIF is useful when your accounting software doesn't accept OFX or QFX.
