Privacy & Security

How we handle your uploads

This page is maintained by BankOpenHour to answer common privacy and security questions about our free financial tools and converters.

Policy summary

  • Your file is parsed entirely in your browser using JavaScript — it is never transmitted to our servers.
  • We do not store, log, retain, or share the contents of your statements or the converted output.
  • No account, email, or payment is required to use any converter on this site.
  • Downloaded output files are generated on your device and never uploaded back to us.

What happens when you upload a file

  1. You drop a PDF, CSV, OFX, QFX, QIF, or IIF file into the browser upload area.
  2. The file is read into memory by your browser using the standard FileReader API.
  3. All parsing, conversion, and formatting runs on your device — no network request carries your file contents.
  4. The generated output is turned into a Blob and downloaded via a local browser link.
  5. When you close or refresh the page, the in-memory data is discarded.

What we do collect

Like most sites, we collect anonymous analytics (page views, referrer, approximate location, browser type) to understand which tools are useful. These analytics never include the contents or names of files you convert.

Third-party services

We use Ahrefs Analytics for aggregate site metrics and Google Search Console for search performance. Neither service receives your uploaded documents or the output files you download.

Recommendations for sensitive data

  • Keep your browser up to date and use a private/incognito window if you share a device.
  • Clear your Downloads folder after saving the converted output.
  • Review the downloaded file against the sample templates linked on each converter page to confirm the format matches your expectations.

Reporting a security issue

If you believe you have found a security or privacy issue with one of the tools, please contact us so we can investigate. Do not include real bank data in reports — a small redacted sample is enough.

This summary is provided for transparency and is not a certification. It reflects the current behavior of the tools on this site and may be updated as the tools evolve.
